Production chains helper

Sorry I've been quiet...been busy having net problems!

Somebody in the chat shared this great link, which details all the production chains. Tells you exactly how many foresters, etc, you need for an efficient economy.

I thought this may become obsolete with the new updated 'economy tab' (coming next week...I think!), but it's still quite handy to have as a guide, particularly if you're planning your resource consumption wisely ;)

Tip of the week!

Bored of endlessly scrolling around your island? Me too.

Did you know you can also use the number pad (to the right of your keyboard) to quickly jump from section to section? (If you're having problems with this one, make sure your 'Numlock' light is ON).

If you don't have a mousewheel, you can also zoom in and out using the '+' and '-' keys (usually on the right of the number pad!).

Edit; These navigation tips also work on Macs too! Thanks to Sinister-King for this info :)

Updated level rewards!

Incase you don't know...head on over to tsotesting.com, if you test the new features for 15 minutes you will get a reward on your main account! Not sure what the rewards are yet, I will keep you posted.

I'm in the process of updating the 'level rewards sheet' for the new tutorial, it can be found here. These new features and quests will be going live in 6 days! Been looking at the new trade system too, it is AWESOME and much easier to find what you need. I'll also be writing a bit on the new guild quests when I get there.

QueenJules.

UPDATE; The first reward was a cheese sandwich....hopefully they'll improve as the tests go on :)

Resource map, and other news!

A nifty little map, updated by Dyunel. Shows you all the resources located on the island! I've used this when wondering how many times to send out my geologists when grabbing a new section.

In other news, I've just received a hundred views on my blog! Not bad for only being open a week!

I've also added another page, where I will catalog all the links I post. You can get there by clicking the 'guides/useful links' button at the top of the page. I will endeavour to post more content here over the weekend, I'm currently moving house at the moment.

Thank you all, and Happy Settling!

Tip of the week!

Don't forget to upgrade your barracks and provision house. This can cut production times in half, leading to you levelling up quicker.

Provision House guide *incomplete*

I have made a guide to the Provision House, as someone requested on the forums, and I thought it was a good idea. I will also be making a similar guide to the Barracks in a few days.

The guide can be found HERE

Included are costs, benefits, and construction times for all levels of the Provision House.

(This is a work in progress at the moment, due to me being too tired to calculate the Level 5 attributes and unable to level up my own provision house this week!)

Enjoy!

The best battle simulator.

There have been a number of battle simulators made for The Settlers Online, but my personal favourite has to be http://www.settlersonlinetools.com/en/combat_simulator/

It's the best looking by far, and even allows you to see the easiest way to defeat each camp. Camp selection is easy, and map based, rather than in the list style I've seen on some other battle simulators, which can get confusing.

A combat indicator is going to be integrated into the game at some point...but for now, bookmark this, and stop losing troops ;)

Moving buildings, and their cost.

As mentioned yesterday, the ability to move buildings is going to be added to the game on the 16th August. The feature will be added to the toolbox tab.

I have just come across this rather nice spreadsheet made by the user Sinister-King, which details the costs for moving buildings as demonstrated in the test server. The prices are likely to come down when the feature goes live, but it's nice to have a rough idea!

Thanks to Sinister-King for creating this.

Recycling plant

If you're a gem buyer, I'd seriously consider purchasing the 'recycling plant' from the item shop. You'll need 990 gems, but it's completely worth it, given that you will be needing a LOT of coal to produce weapons, (and coins, should you choose to produce them. I'll be writing more about the gold mining process later). I particularly like this building because my coal mines are always running out (due to time constraints mainly!) and it's nice to have a reserve stock of coal. Keep it buffed also for more coal than you can shake a proverbially hairy stick at!

The Settlers Online Level Rewards Guide *Incomplete*

I started this blog because I wanted to see the various rewards for each level. At the moment, this is a work in progress. If you post this info elsewhere, PLEASE link here, or credit me. (And, if you'd like to contribute with accurate information, I'll give you a reward per missing answer. Email me with your username)

Trade Calculator.

New to trading? Unsure about the current price of something? Just looking for a fair deal? Well, the link below contains a trade calculator. Click the resource, enter the amount, and voila.

(The Settlers Online used to be called Castle Empire!)

There's also a spreadsheet format here.

Good luck with your trades!

Tip of the week!

Before going to bed, queue up your provision house as much as possible, so you have lots of new buffs to use in the morning.

Development Diary update.

Incase you haven't seen, the development diary has been updated, with the changes that will be implemented on August 16th.

New features will include;

Daily Guild Quests
There will now be quests available for guilds with over 20 members. There will be a quest available for the whole guild to participate in (amassing resources, I imagine) as well as personal quests for guild members. The personal quests will result in personal rewards, and when a certain percentage of members have finished their personal quests, the main Guild Quest will be completed, resulting in rewards (XP!) for all participants. So, if you're a daily player and not in a guild, I'd look to move into one as soon as possible.

The ability to move buildings
Finally! The ability to move buildings is here, although at a small cost. The 'move building' button will be added to the toolbox. Moving buildings will cost either gems, or resources. Excellent news, as my island is messier than my cats litter tray.

Change to troop slider
When assigning troops to a general, the slider will now automatically stop at your generals maximum capacity. I can't recall ever having a problem with this feature before, but there you go.

Questbook redsign
They've made the Questbook look a little more attractive. You will now also have to click the 'finish' button on every quest. Plus, this little chap will be appearing a lot more. I'm digging those boots.

Welcome!

As a mid-level Settlers player, I thought I would start a one-stop shop for The Settlers Online, so that new players don't have to scour the forums left and right.

Here I will be including several guides, for bandits, adventures, levelling up etc, as well as posting news, useful links, and well, anything Settlers related :)

My player name is QueenJules, in Newfoundland server, and as of the time of writing I am level 26. Feel free to add me! I can normally be found in Global-1.

If there's something you'd like to know, contribute, or complain about, then send me an email at thisisawasteofbraincells@gmail.com ;)
